IxDA Sydney 25 Aug 2017 – From Branding to scenarios

All the interactions

The next IxDA Sydney Meetup will be looking at two aspects of interaction design, both depending on a deep understanding of users, their behaviours and motivations. How users consider and behave with your product or service depends on both passive and active interactions, which our presenters will be discussing with you this August. Join Liz Bacon and Ben Pintos-Oliver as they take you on a journey through Branding and Scenarios.

IxDA Sydney / UX Australia Portfolio Review

In addition, in collaboration with UX Australia we will be holding a portfolio review session with top UX Seniors and Managers on the evening of August 8. IxDA Sydney Senior members will review your portfolio in order to help you put your best foot forward in interviews and the selection process. If you are a new, beginner or well established Interaction Designer, CX/UX/SD Practitioner, or recent graduate, book an appointment.

Scenarios: Humanize All The Things

Scenarios are a fundamental interaction design practice. From definition to delivery, this essential tool helps ensure that we design delightful — and successful — products and services. This talk illuminates the key qualities of scenario-based approaches, providing many actionable methods as well as enlightening theories.

Mind the Brand Gap

Where does Brand and Product design starts, finish and overlap?

With expectations of fast-tracking products into market, to quickly validate problems, solutions and experiences, we find a number of industries needing to evolve their own approaches and methodologies. While some practices have fully embraced this, there are some that are still playing catch up. Stating the obvious, we know the product first needs to be created before you can market it.

On a traditional path, a branding or advertising agency would then have 3-9 months to squeeze the product through their various methodologies, but this time-frame has now reduced, with ‘Product Innovation’ and ‘Build’ practices evolving their approach to be more iterative, seeking early validation. This has resulted in products landing in customer’s hands earlier, causing the agencies that are traditionally second in line, to work more collaboratively and efficiently.

While we might come from similar fields, we are almost speaking different languages, which has created a wealth of pain. So how might be solve this?

Fortuitously we have an opportunity to tackle the longstanding divide by refreshing Branding and bridging the gap with Product teams.
